I AM the Vine 1

What was Jesus doing when He proclaimed, "I AM the Vine?" What relevance did the "Vine" have to Him? What did it symbolize? During this passage, Jesus said that "branches" of the Vine must be "pruned" or "taken away." If those "branches" refer to believers, how does this apply to our relationship with the Lord?"

Greg McCollam is an ordained American Baptist minister and the former pastor of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Cincinnati. A West Virginia native, and a graduate of the University of Charleston (WV), he has been a guest preacher at many churches and has led Bible studies and chapel services at meetings, nursing homes and even a racetrack. He also worked in the marketing departments of both the Indiana Pacers and Cincinnati Reds. He and his wife, Jan, are the parents of three children (Erin, Kelly and Jordan) and the grandparents of two (Reese and Brayden).
